As far back as he can remember, Greensboro street artist Brian Lewis — who goes by his artist name JEKS — has loved creating. He can recall how much he enjoyed drawing, even as a toddler, and says his mother still has some of those early works.

The mural on Battleground Avenue, beside Burger Warfare, on the wall of Midtown Financial Advisors. It features Tecumseh Jones, a 19-year-old Lumbee and Tuscarora Indian. The mural was commissioned by Marty Kotis, who is making a concerted effort to boost the art scene in Greensboro.

The Guilford Green Community Center is one of the latest buildings in Greensboro to get a new mural. The mural extends around the building and onto the parking lot. The community center is located at the corner of Grecade and West Bessemer, on the eastern edge of Midtown.

Tracks Bazaar is a new eight-acre entertainment center in downtown Greensboro. Tracks Bazaar is currently home to a food truck park and concert bandstand and will eventually feature a beer garden, shops, restaurants, and an outdoor market.

Many times, especially in cities where there is not a precedent for such work, there is a lot of convincing or negotiating that must happen in order to secure a wall.
